Welcome to all visitors...

The Haras des Frettes and his owner Annie AUGRAS welcome you to the official Website...

Haras des FrettesI have bred Lusitano horses since 1978. Originally for leasure, I orientated my breeding towards dressage competition from 1987, date on which the Lusitano Association was allowed to compete in officials shows.

In 1988, my stallion Principal has finished on the 5th, 3rd and 1st place for his first show in a 4A2 show. It was the first time in France that a Lusitano won a competition. Principal and I have been awarded by a warm article in “L’Eperon magazine”. It’s the beginning of a new way to select quality of locomotion, while keeping the breed’s criteria and engagement qualities.

Annie AUGRASBoulou des frettes won later in B level. Unfortunately, he had to be castrated and left only to daughters, Idole des frettes and Ivoire des frettes.BOULOU has been sold to the 1999's France Champion Marietta ALMASY, who has ridden him a full year in Grand Prix. Then, she sold him in Germany where he placed in Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special.
Nowadays, Impala des frettes has taken over. He got the best mark at the stallion agreement, and won in B level competitions and Prix Saint Georges. I'm training him for Grand Prix.

In 2000, following the evolution of the European legislation, I finally got the opportunity to cross my Lusitano mares with famous dutch or german stallions, a dream I have had for the last 10 years.

By combining the elasticity, the ability to have releved paces and the outstanding temperament of Lusitanos, with the power, the big moving paces and the bounce of nordic horses, I wished I could obtained top level dressage horses.

That's how NAGANO was born in 2001 by Ferro ( kwpn) and Idole des frettes by Boulou des frettes. He's the males foals' France Champion, and the '2 years old' vice-champion at 2003 Saumur championships.
In 2004, nordic horses have been allowed to compete in these shows, and competition is now harder. He finished 5th of the 3 years old championships.
At the age of four, NAGANO competed only twice in classic competitions and was qualified for the final, at which he's rated once again "Elite", scoring 78 points for conformation and 85 for canter in the 2nd show. But his main quality is the ability to releved paces.
I'm not expecting from this young horse to prove an immediate high performance. My purpose is to bring him gradually to succes in Grand Prix. Lusitano horses are late-maturing, and they are still babies compared to german horses, which are already adults and trained from the age of 2.

In 2002, his half-sister, Orchidée des frettes by Latimer (Trackener) and Idole des frettes the female foals' France Vice Champion. She was classed "Elite" at the age of 2, and at 3. In 2003 Passion des frettes by Cheenook (Holsteiner) and Ivoire des frettes has been the France foals' supreme champion.

« The competition becomes harder and harder. I have to stay on alert in order to remain constantly at the top level, as the quality of horses improves itself each year at Saumur French Championships. »
